In case you weren't able to hear the live broadcast, when we started up Turntable 1 in the K-dub studio it played but no sound was to be heard whatsoever.

Must be a messed up cable or something or other.

So we were left with only one turntable for our 'all vinyl' show which, suffice to say, does NOT exactly work in our favour.

Anyway, we survived the show (and so did our listeners) albeit all the complications put all five of us -three guests included: My sister Kalurah, her husband Jason and our cousin Maija, in quite a silly mood.

It's polished up much for this post.

The second installment of the Rebellious Jukebox edition.

I've sort of changed the whole concept of what these shows are.
What I've decided is they'll be kind of 'freeform' just a playlist of similar-sounding songs (in chronological order) that I really dig and have a certain vibe. Then I just see where the songs take me.

While compiling this I noticed there's quite a few songs from 1981, not sure how that happened, I suppose a lot of great music came out that year.

You hear The Common Men once again as you did in the last 'Rebellious Jukebox' show.
As well The Solar System which was heard on Show #7 of last Spring.
And Mirror Mirror whom we've played many a time.

"What's this?" you ask. It doesn't look like the usual playlist show post I'm used to seeing.
Well, here is sort of an explanation...

See, I know that I have yet to post any of the vinyl shows this year and I feel quite bad about this.

I'm not sure as to why it takes me so long if ever to post those particular shows. Perhaps it has something to do with my tendency to become fixated with each show's cover art. It can be quite grueling coming up with a clever 'sleeveface'-inspired cover each time, so oftentimes I don't get around to even bothering.

Although, I do always pride myself on providing an aesthetically pleasing show post, I suppose really that in the end it's the music that's important, not the presentation. I'll try to better remember this in the future.

For now, as a sort of compensation, I give you not only the entire show #10, albeit not in mp3 format as usual, but audio and video, in all its vulnerability -without my beloved editing (which believe me is very difficult and painful for me to allow you to see and hear!).

I will try to get some album art for those other vinyl shows together, including this one, and post them as soon as I have the time.

This is the very first in a new series of shows we're doing of unhampered songs although with just a tinge of a theme.

This week it was Darkwave and Post-Punk, my two favourite music genres that are really my true roots and what I always seem drawn to and come back to at the end of the day.

Finally the John Peel show that I have been planning for what seems like forever.

As I mention in the show, deciding to do a John Peel show with the main bulk consisting only of selected sessions from his programme which spanned from the late sixties to 2004 is VERY DIFFICULT.

Think about this for a moment.
Hundreds of bands and thousands of sessions to choose from.
Not to mention that Mr. John Peel had impeccable taste.
What to pick?!

Well, after a quite arduous time of it, I was able to force myself to edit down the playlist as much I possibly could.

You just might hear more Peel Session shows sometime in the future. Although with a more specific theme, so that the seemingly impossible will not have to be pulled off again.

The Cure at Everett Events Center, 31st of August 2004

... I saw my favourite band The Cure live for the very first time.

My sister and I travelled from Walla Walla, Washington to stay in a hotel in Seattle, later that afternoon to head further north to Everett, that Tuesday.

My cousin was travelling there as well from Hood River, Oregon.

I made a mix for the journey in anticipation of the impending glory that would that evening.

These are the songs that 'led' us through our 'Roadway to The Cure', which incidentally was the phrase posted to our backseat window in the car on our trek north with the classic Cure Wish graffiti included.

There is something very special about records.
